ARC (Antenatal Results and Choices)

Group B streptococcus (GBS) is the most common cause of life-threatening infections in newborn babies in the UK - without preventative medicine, GBS infects around 700 babies each year of whom sadly 75 or more die and around 40 survivors are left with long term problems as a result.

The Bereavement Support Group (BSG) was established in 1982 in response to requests from parents who had lost a twin. Dr Elizabeth Bryan, a founder member of the Twins and Multiple Births Association (TAMBA), recognised the special needs of such families, and with a parent who had lost a twin, began the support group, producing its first leaflet.
